Gambhir fine with batting at No. 3 in ODIs
New Delhi: Gautam Gambhir has earned his stripes as a swashbuckling opener but the left-hander is happy to drop down the order to pave way for Sachin Tendulkar in India's one day line-up.Gambhir partners his Delhi team-mate Virender Sehwag both in Test and Twenty20 but has to bat down the order in ODIs when Tendulkar comes at the top.Instead of sulking, Gambhir said he had no issues with it."When you have two of world's best openers, you don't think about that. With two legends of the game opening, you have to give them the honour. They have a great record together and I'm happy playing down the order," Gambhir said."I'm happy playing at whatever position I'm offered. Slot doesn't matter. What really matters is how much you contribute. I'm happy while opening. Even when I'm not, I want to ... More

This Day in Cricket (13 Mar)
2004: Even neutrals were breathless watching the first ODI in Karachi on India's first tour to Pakistan for 15 years, which genuinely lived upto the hype. India actually slowed down towards the end of their innings, but still monstered their way to 349. When Pakistan were 34 for 2 in the 8th Over, the match looked settled. But Inzamam-ul-Haq (122) and Yousuf Youhana (73) led the fightback at nine an over. Moin Khan needed a 6 from the final ball but only managed a single. In the final analysis, Pakistan's 19 no-balls to India's two cost them the game.
