Ravindra Jadeja for Gambhir's place in ODI squad

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will replace injured batsman Gautam Gambhir in India's squad for the upcoming one-day series in England, it was announced on Wednesday.

India, who lost the Test series 4-0, play a one-off Twenty20 match against England at Old Trafford later on Wednesday before the five-match one-day series starts in Chester-le-Street on Saturday.

Jadeja, 22, has so far scored 535 runs and taken 29 wickets in 35 one-day internationals.

Gambhir was injured when he fell on his head trying to take a catch during the final Test at the Oval. He was diagnosed with concussion and was still suffering with blurred vision during a practice session on Monday.

"Gautam has been advised to take rest and will be returning to India shortly. Jadeja has been chosen as his replacement," the Indian cricket board said in a statement.

Suresh Raina was named vice-captain for the one-day series.

Injury-hit India are already without Virender Sehwag, Ishant Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh, who have all been ruled out of the one-day series.
