Edwards off to thunder down under

Fidel Edwards has become the Sydney Thunder's second international signing for the KFC T20 Big Bash League, joining West Indies team-mate Chris Gayle at the new franchise.

The Thunder today revealed the spearheads of their bowling attack for the competition, with Edwards joining Doug Bollinger in the front line.

The 29-year-old just completed a three-Test series against India where he claimed 19 wickets at an average of 20. He has played 12 T20 Internationals for the Windies, taking 10 wickets at 30.80.

New South Wales native Bollinger has been a key man for the Blues for a number of seasons and recently impressed in the Indian Premier League where he took 17 scalps to be the second-leading wicket-taker for champions Chennai.

"Signing Fidel Edwards and Doug Bollinger continues our policy of recruiting some of the game's hottest talent," said Sydney Thunder general manager John Dyson.

"They are going to create plenty of headaches for batsmen in the KFC T20 Big Bash League.

"Fidel has proven to be a consistent wicket-taker, especially in the last series against India, while Doug is one of the premier fast bowlers in Australia and is coming off an excellent IPL series."
