India’s 5 win white-wash is just its second in a five match series. The first such instance was not so long back, against England in 2008-09.

Gautam Gambhir with this clean sweep of the series has now won five consecutive matches as the Indian skipper.

New Zealand has now lost 12 of their last 11 one-dayers including ten in a row, all in the sub-continent.

In the previous match, Yousuf Pathan’s century had set a trend of an Indian batsman scoring a century in this series to 3 matches in a row, now. In this match, Team India was required to score just over 100 runs to wrap up the series.

Martin Guptil’s duck was already the third of his career spanning just 37 innings so far and already his second against India. Both his ducks against India have been in 2010.

New Zealand’s 103 is the lowest ever team score in an one-dayer in Chepauk.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli had kind of set of trend of both either scoring heavily together or both failing to score together in the last 4 matches of this series. In this match, both Kohli (2) and Gambhir (0) missed out on scoring as they did in the earlier match. Both Gambhir and Kohli registered hundreds and fifties in matches 2 and 3 of this series.

Parthiv Patel, who scored his first limited overs fifty in the previous match made it two in a row with an unbeaten 56 in this match.

James Franklin, who hit the maximum sixes for New Zealand in the fourth one-dayer, also scored the lone sixer for New Zealand in this match. He was unbeaten on both the matches.

New Zealand scored less than one-third of the total team runs (103) in comparison to their team total in the fourth one-dayer ( 315).

Ashish Nehra claimed his 150th ODI wicket(Victim – Brendon McCullum).

Yuvraj Singh had an interesting tournament:
a. In the first match he claimed three wickets.
b. In the third match he claimed three catches and didn’t bowl.
c. Claimed two wickets and scored an unbeaten 42 in this match.
d. Completed the series with 120 runs and 5 wickets and 6 catches with a batting average of 60 and bowling average of 23.4

Ravichandra Ashwin’s 3 wickets in the match catapulted his overall wickets tally in this series to 11, the maximum by any bowler in this series.
