Dalmiya re-elected as head of Bengal Cricket

Kolkata: Seasoned cricket administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya was re-elected Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president with a thumping majority at the cash-rich body's Annual General Meeting here Saturday.

Dalmiya crushed his only rival former association joint-secretary Samar Pal 104-14 in the election for the top post.

Pal, who has been a consistent anti-Dalmiya man in the CAB for years, had filed his nomination papers against what he called "the CAB chief's dictatorial attitude".

This is the first time since his comeback in 2008 that Dalmiya faced an election for the president's post which he has held since 1993 except for a 19-month hiatus after he resigned in December 2006 on being expelled from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The Dalmiya group won all the other executive posts uncontested.

Incumbent joint secretary Biswarup Dey and treasurer Subir Ganguly swapped their slots. Sujon Mukherjee, who was joint secretary in the outgoing body, retained his post. (courtesy sports.ndtv.com)
