London, Jun 14 (ANI): Fast bowler Jimmy Anderson is still hopeful he can play a part in England's World T20 title defence in September despite being left out of the squad to face West Indies this month.

The fast bowler, who will play the three ODIs against the tourists, last figured for England in T20 cricket in 2009.

"Hopefully by playing well in the ODIs, I can somehow force my way back into the side. Test cricket is obviously the pinnacle of the game, but there is so much hype around T20 cricket, that I am keen to be involved," The Daily Express quoted Anderson, as saying.

Yesterday a formidable West Indies line-up, boosted by the return of big-hitters from the IPL such as Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, hit 335-4 from 50 overs to beat Middlesex by 228 runs at Lord's. (ANI)
