Dickie Bird regrets not having kids

London, May 29 (ANI): Legendary cricket umpire Dickie Bird has revealed that his one regret in life is not having any children.

Yorkshireman Bird, 79, who received an OBE earlier this month, has been a lifelong bachelor.

“I never got married as I was never at home,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying

“To have had a son, a girl or a couple of lads who played cricket and to play ball with them would have given me a lot of pleasure.

“I would have felt so chuffed but it never happened,” he said.

However he adds: “I have had a great life and some wonderful moments I shall always treasure.” (ANI)
