Pak chief selector ‘impressed’ by Super Eight Twenty20 Cup players

Karachi, Apr 3(ANI): Pakistan’s chief selector Iqbal Qasim has said he has been hugely impressed with the players’ performance in the Super Eight Twenty20 Cup.

“We saw an abundance of talent during the tournament. There were several new faces who were very impressive. We’ve taken note of several outstanding players and this event will help us form a formidable squad for the 2012 World Twenty20,” The Express Tribune quoted Qasim, as saying.

He added the selection committee had not yet finalized the squad alongwith coach Dav Whatmore.

“We didn’t get a chance but there will definitely be consultation with the coach in the coming days,” he added.

Meanwhile, according to an official close to the team management, Whatmore has also formed a list of players, who impressed him during the tournament.

“Whatmore may invite the new faces to the National Cricket Academy for grooming as he also has the task of finding budding individuals,” the official added. (ANI)
