London, May 30(ANI): The International Cricket Council (ICC) will hold its annual review at Lord's in London on May 30, and the controversial Decision Review System (DRS) would be discussed during the two-day meeting.The annual review would consider reliability of the technologies used and the extent of improvements made, the correctness of the current DRS Leg Before Wicket (BMW) procedures and the impact on the game in the balance between bat and ball during the meet. The committee, headed by former West Indies captain Clive Llyod would discuss an extensive range of other issues during the two-day meeting including Twenty20 strategy and the format of ODI cricket. The committee will mull over the role of Twenty20 cricket in the growth of the game in the developing cricket world. The quantity of Twenty20 cricket relative to the volume of the other formats in bilateral series will also be discussed, The Daily Times reports. The committee will also consider the impact of the rule changes and the outcome of the trials made recently in the fifty over format, and whether any other changes should be initiated to further improve the format at international level. The committee would also contemplate whether the much used switch-hit retains a fair balance between bat and ball. Various other issues like bringing more innovations in the limited over format, concept of day-night Test matches, and illegal-bowling actions would be discussed during the meet. The recommendations of the committee will go to the chief executives' committee and the ICC board for approval. The next meetings of those committees are set for Kuala Lumpur during the ICC's annual conference week from June 24-28. (ANI) |
