Media launch of ICC U19 CWC 2012 at the Gabba on Monday

Dubai, 18 February 2012: The tournament schedule of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 will be announced in a function which will take place in the Champions Room, Eastern Stand, Gabba, Brisbane, at 1230 (Brisbane time) on Monday 20 February.

The event will be attended by Angelo Mathews, who was a member of the Sri Lanka side in the ICC U19 CWC 2004 in Bangladesh, David Warner, who represented Australia in the ICC U19 CWC 2006 in Sri Lanka, and India’s Virat Kolhi, who lifted the ICC U19 CWC 2008 trophy in Malaysia.

Australia and Queensland’s Ryan Harris will also be in attendance as Queensland prepares to host this prestigious global cricket event.

The ICC U19 CWC 2012 will be held in Queensland from 11-26 August and Australia will defend the title it won in New Zealand two years ago when it defeated Pakistan in the final by 25 runs.

Along with ICC’s 10 Full members, the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 will see six qualifiers – Namibia (from the Africa Region), Afghanistan and Nepal (from the Asia Region), Papua New Guinea (from the East Asia-Pacific Region) and Ireland and Scotland (from the Europe Region) – taking part.
